Sugar - the devil

Sugar is nowadays known to have some serious impacts to our health. Few years ago it was fat that everyone was scared, so the food industry filled our cabins with light products. In those diet-versions the fat was removed partly or completely and replaced with sugar an other unhealthy food additives.

Today we know that usually it's the sugar that harms us. Sugar can be very addictive to some people. In fact it can be as addictive as heroine 'cos it releases the same neurotransmitters as other addictives. Sugar works in our brains just like other drugs - by messing with our own reward system and releasing opiates.

SO why not try to cope without it. At least that's what I'm going to try. I've detected that I might be oversensitive to sugar. I have this quality to be filled orgasmic euphoria after snacking my sweets which gives me some hint of how big of an impact sugar has on me.

This text is released after snacking some yummy-tummyfilling-gummyfruits last night. :) Full of regret and moral hangover -that's what drugs do to us!

Falling apart?

Two last weeks have been different...
I finally got to meet physiotherapist due to my lower back, hip and knee pain. After her examination I found out that I have a double-twisting (lumbar and thoracic) scoliosis,  fascia inflammation on hip and lower back and also that I have wear out my body to the overtraining point.

She recommended me to take it easy for a while and not increase my weight training load. My problems are likely caused by my flexibility - when I train my muscles they pull my whole body out of place. Overtraining has caused fascia problems 'cos those neural tissues aren't growing as quickly as the muscle inside them. Inflammation in hip fascia is typical when thighs are trained in repeatedly with big loads - common in sports such as ice hockey.

So I was told to take it easy, which I didn't do on first week.  But when I was helping pharmacy to move on weekend and carried hours huge loads, my pains got worse.

Last week was different. I dumped my usual gym program and had good time just hanging on the gym. I also missed two Taido classes and my runs. The week was crowned with a weekend on spa-hotel, where I emptied the buffét three times per day and enjoyed of doing nothing.

This week is all about finding the balance. I start my gym program from start, decreasing load and taking better care on nutrition and recovery.
